Methamphetamine Control Legislation

2005 - HB 1347 (F.S. 893.315), requiring Florida retailers to put single active ingredient Pseudoephedrine items behind the counter and limits quantity of sale; makes it a felony offense to manufacture methamphetamine with a child under the age of 16 present; restricts transport of anhydrous ammonia; and strengthens penalties against cookers if first responders are injured.

2006 - HB 1325, (F.S. 893.13, ) requiring the Department of Children and Family Services to file a petition for dependency for the children of parents involved in certain controlled substance crimes; defines the term “clandestine laboratory;” revises provisions relating to criminal penalties for controlled substance violations that result in serious injury to specified individuals; prevents automatic denial of health insurance coverage to first responders previously exposed to methamphetamine related chemicals at a lab site.
