Policy Papers The Florida Statewide Methamphetamine Strategy was created in 2003 as a law enforcement response to the increasing number of Methamphetamine Laboratories being seized in Florida. The Methamphetamine Workgroup is working on an updated version of this document to respond to the Drug Endangered Children, Treatment, Prevention and Environmental issues as well as Law Enforcement. The updated version will be out by the end of 2007. Florida Statewide Methamphetamine Strategy [September 2007] The 2007 Florida Methamphetamine Control Strategy builds on the earlier strategy by addressing the threat posed by methamphetamine more holistically. Whereas the previous strategy focused on the hazards of clandestine methamphetamine labs and the dangers they pose to children, the current Strategy has a broader purview that encompasses the use and importation of methamphetamine, incorporating prevention, treatment, and environmental perspectives as well. This Strategy is the product of the collaborative efforts of the Methamphetamine Workgroup, which was established in 2005 to assess the impact of methamphetamine on our communities and to update Florida’s strategic responses. The comprehensive approach adopted by this Strategy reflects the multidisciplinary composition of the workgroup, which has representatives from diverse agencies and organizations.
